About Us

We are a dog-mad family who enjoys showing, hiking and doing other activities with our lovely pack of Smooth-Haired Standard Dachshunds and Hungarian Pumis.

For as long as I can remember I have always had at least one dog.

My mum was engaged with working with police and guard dogs and so her knowledge rubbed off on me, learning how to train dogs to have basic obedience, and how to handle and take care of dogs in general. We had German Shepherds, one of which I trained myself when I was very young.

Then as an older teenager, I bought my very first own dogs who I worked with and have shown in Europe. In 2005 I bought a lovely little dachshund too, who was the hardest to train and the most stubborn little creature in my life but the funniest and lovable dog ever. As others say ‘a big personality in a small body (so very true).

This love soon became an obsession with dachshunds and made me learn a lot (and there is still a lot more to learn) about the breed. It was a long time before I could buy another dachshund due to our relocation to the UK, but finally, Emily arrived into our family followed by Csupor, Mister and there the hobby of showing in the UK is started and once you start it you can’t just stop.

Now I exhibit Dachshunds of my own breeding and I’m also lucky enough to own and show two beautiful Hungarian Pumis called Zajos ad Mano. Both our dachshunds and Pumis are excellent examples of their breed and all have lovely temperaments

Being a dog trainer and canine behaviourist I raise all our puppies with great emphasis on early socialisation and training using a special socialisation program.

My goal regarding Smooth-Haired Dachshunds is to keep the breed healthy and functional with less possible exaggeration and a stable temperament while adhering to the UK breed standard.

My goal regarding Hungarian Pumis is to produce my dog’s excellent temperament and conformation in my future lines while making the breed more popular (of course I have to emphasise this breed is definitely not for anyone), to work towards improving the UK gene pool and to preserve this lovely breed according to the original Hungarian breed standard.

What our customers say;

I can not recommend The Gravelous enough, Zsofia was superb and communicated regularly either via email or through updates. After the first meeting I was completely at ease in the fact I had chosen the right breeder to get my pup from. The care and attention the litter had was remarkable. She certainly made the first week with our puppy a lot easier. We are a very happy family and that is down to having the right pup. Thank you.

Lovely, well-adjusted puppies raised by a caring and knowledgable breeder. I have no hesitation at all in recommending Sofia. My 14 month old pup is a super member of the family and we keep in touch with updates etc
